Grégoire Lorieux is a composer, and has taught at Ircam since 2004.
After training in early music and a master's degree in musicology on the work of Kaija Saariaho, he studied composition with Philippe Leroux, then at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP).
In 2012–2013, the SPEAP programme with Bruno Latour at Sciences Po marked a turning point: questions of landscape, inquiry, audiences and ecology entered his practice.
He was co-artistic director of the ensemble l'Itinéraire from 2013 to 2024, and associate professor at the CNSMDP from 2019 to 2024. He is a member of the Futurs Composés network.
He develops a participatory musical ecology: forms in which ecologically informed music is made outdoors, with a measured use of technology, in dialogue with the living world and with territories. In 2022 he founded the Mondes Sonores festival, and in 2026 the Mondes Sonores association.
